KNUST Opens Applications for 2026/2027 Academic Year, Announces Entry Requirements and Guidelines

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has officially opened the sale of application e-vouchers for prospective applicants seeking admission into its degree and top-up programmes for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The announcement covers a wide range of applicants, including holders of WASSCE, SSSCE, GCE Advanced Level, GBCE, ABCE, IB qualifications, as well as mature candidates. Candidates awaiting results from the 2026 WASSCE are also eligible to apply.

The announcement covers a wide range of applicants, including holders of WASSCE, SSSCE, GCE Advanced Level, GBCE, ABCE, IB qualifications, as well as mature candidates. Candidates awaiting results from the 2026 WASSCE are also eligible to apply.

Entry Requirements

Applicants are required to meet specific academic criteria depending on their qualification category. For WASSCE and SSSCE holders, this includes credit passes in core subjects such as English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science, alongside three relevant elective subjects, with an aggregate score of 24 or better.

Holders of GBCE and ABCE must obtain credit passes in at least six subjects, including English Language and Business Mathematics, as well as passes in compulsory and optional subjects at the advanced level. GCE Advanced Level applicants are also required to have passes in five O’ Level subjects, including English and Mathematics, in addition to three relevant subjects at the Advanced Level.

Mature applicants must be at least 25 years old and provide proof of age, alongside meeting minimum academic requirements or passing an entrance examination and interview. HND holders with relevant work experience may also apply, provided they meet the required academic background.

International applicants and candidates from French-speaking countries are eligible but must provide proof of English proficiency in addition to meeting the standard entry requirements.

Application Options & Fees

The university has outlined multiple application options. Applicants can purchase e-vouchers online via the admission portal using bank cards or mobile money. Ghanaian applicants also have the option to dial a shortcode to purchase vouchers or obtain them from designated offices of the Ghana Post Company Limited.

The application processing fee has been set at GH¢250.00 for Ghanaian applicants and US$100.00 for international applicants.

Deadlines

Deadlines have been announced as follows: mature, top-up, and international applications will close on August 31, 2026, while applications for Ghanaian candidates awaiting WASSCE results will remain open until results are released.

Applicants are required to complete the entire process online, including uploading all relevant documents such as academic certificates, identification, and supporting records. The university has cautioned that incomplete applications or incorrect information may lead to disqualification.

KNUST further emphasised that admissions are handled solely by the Central Undergraduate Admissions Committee and warned applicants against engaging middlemen or attempting to influence the process.

Prospective applicants have been advised to carefully review all admission guidelines on the university’s official platforms before proceeding with their applications.

Important Guidelines

  • The online application E-VOUCHERS can be obtained by Ghanaian applicants for GH¢250.00.
  • Ghanaian applicants who apply with foreign qualifications from schools in Ghana which write the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the IGCSE should obtain the e-voucher for GH¢250.00.
  • All international applicants are expected to pay to the University a non-refundable application processing fee of US$100.00 GH¢1,550.00.
  • All prospective applicants are advised to visit the University’s website: www.knust.edu.gh and carefully read all relevant information before applying.
  • Applicants are required to visit the University’s website at https://apps.knust.edu.gh/admissions/ to complete their application process online using the Login and Pin Number provided on the E-Voucher.
  • Applicants must scan and attach all relevant and mandatory documents to the online application.
  • After submission, applicants should print out a copy for their own reference.
  • Applicants SHOULD NOT submit a hard copy of the application to the University.
  • Only results and/or documents provided at the time of submission shall be considered.
  • Failure to input examination details correctly will deny admission.
  • Admissions are handled solely by the Central Undergraduate Admissions Committee.
  • Any form of solicitation to influence admission is at the applicant’s own risk.
  • The portal will be reopened for one week after WAEC results release for corrections.
  • Applicant names must match exactly with certificates; proof is required for any name change.
  • Pharm D Top-Up applicants must be practicing pharmacists with three years post-registration experience.
  • All Top-Up programmes are fee-paying only.
  • Incomplete applications will not be processed.
  • Multiple applications from the same applicant may not be processed.
