KNUST Opens Applications for KNUST Bursary for the 2026/2027 Academic Year

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has announced the opening of applications for its one-year bursary scheme aimed at supporting brilliant but needy students pursuing full-time programmes at the university.

The bursary is available to regular Ghanaian students who demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need. However, final-year students, fee-paying and parallel students are not eligible to apply. Continuing students currently benefiting from any scholarship or bursary exceeding GHÈ» 1,500 are also excluded.

To qualify, applicants must have a Cumulative Weighted Average (CWA) of at least 67. First-year students must have obtained an aggregate of 9 or better in their WASSCE results, subject to confirmation of their first-semester performance. Students who do not meet these requirements may consider applying for the SRC-KBN Bursary instead.

Application Requirements

Applicants are required to submit the following documents:

  • Completed application form, signed and stamped by a referee
  • Evidence of student loan application for continuing students
  • Statement of need
  • Admission letter
  • Results slip for continuing students
  • WASSCE results for first-year students
  • Copies of awards or certificates, where applicable

Applicants must also complete an online registration process before submitting their documents. All application materials must be enclosed in a sealed envelope with the applicant’s details clearly indicated.

Submission Guidelines

Completed applications should be submitted to the Directorate of Student Affairs at the J. Harper Building, Room 19. Applicants at the Obuasi campus are to submit their forms at the Registrar’s Office on their campus.

The university has cautioned that applications submitted without completing the online registration will be disqualified, and no submissions will be accepted after the deadline.

Deadline

The deadline for submission of applications is Friday, 17 April 2026. Students have been advised to apply and submit their documents before the start of the first semester examinations.
