The initiative is aimed at providing laptops to undergraduate and postgraduate students of the University who are from financially constrained backgrounds and unable to afford one.
Applicants are required to visit the SFAO website and navigate to the Scholarships section to select the One Student One Laptop Initiative. Prospective beneficiaries must read the eligibility page and the One Student One Laptop Policy before completing the online application form, including the required essays. Applicants must select “New Application Submission” under Application Type when filling out the form.
In addition to the online submission, applicants are required to print out a hard copy of the Declaration Form, complete it and submit it to the Students’ Financial Aid Office on or before the stated deadline.
Supporting documents to be submitted include a signed copy of the One Student One Laptop Policy, admission letter, proof of registration, academic records such as WASSCE results or transcripts, letters of recommendation, birth certificates of siblings and any other relevant documents that may assist in processing the application.
To be eligible, applicants must be Ghanaian undergraduate students in Levels 100 to 400, or Ghanaian postgraduate students enrolled in a research degree programme such as MPhil or PhD who have completed at least one year of study. Applicants must also demonstrate limited family income or insufficient funds to acquire a laptop, come from a resource-disadvantaged background with a competitive CGPA, show determination and perseverance, and must not currently own a laptop.
The Students Financial Aid Office encouraged qualified students to take advantage of the initiative to support their academic work.
