KNUST Opens Applications for Top-Up Nursing and Midwifery Programmes for 2026 Admission

The School of Nursing and Midwifery under the College of Health Sciences at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, has opened applications for admission into its Top-Up Bachelor of Science programmes.

The programmes are aimed at upgrading the qualifications of diploma holders in nursing and midwifery-related fields and are available under both Regular (Top-Up) and Sandwich sessions.

Available Regular (Top-Up) programmes include BSc. Emergency Nursing, BSc. Nursing and BSc. Midwifery. Under the Sandwich session, applicants may apply for BSc. Nursing, BSc. Midwifery and BSc. Public Health Nursing.

Applicants seeking admission into the BSc. Emergency Nursing and BSc. Nursing programmes must be holders of a Diploma in Nursing with a good pass, be duly registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana (NMC), and must have completed National Clinical Rotation. Required documents include an NMC certificate, diploma certificate from a recognized institution, and WASSCE or SSSCE certificates or results slips, as well as KNUST access results where applicable.

Similarly, applicants for the BSc. Midwifery programme must hold a Diploma in Midwifery with a good pass, be registered with the NMC, and have completed National Clinical Rotation, in addition to submitting the required academic and professional documents.

For the BSc. Public Health Nursing programme, applicants must hold a Diploma in Community Health Nursing or Public Health Nursing with a good pass, be registered with the NMC, and have completed National Clinical Rotation.

All applicants across the programmes must satisfy the minimum university entry requirement of credit passes in six subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science.

As part of the admission process, all applicants will be required to attend and pass a pre-admission interview.

Applicants are to purchase an e-voucher at designated Ghana Post Company Limited offices at a cost of GH¢250.00. The e-voucher provides a login ID and PIN to access the KNUST online admissions portal, where applicants are required to complete the application process and upload all relevant documents. Applicants are advised not to submit hard copies of their applications to the University.

The deadline for the submission of application forms is Friday, April 17, 2026.

The programmes will be run at KNUST, with BSc. Nursing and BSc. Midwifery available under both Regular Top-Up and Sandwich sessions, BSc. Emergency Nursing offered under the Regular session, and BSc. Public Health Nursing under the Sandwich session.
